The Nominating Committee is pleased to present the following nominees for three available three-year volunteer positions on the ACFCU Board of Directors.
A native Arlingtonian and Army Reserve veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Lisa is entering her twenty-first year with Arlington Public Schools (APS). Currently, she is the Assistant Principal of Dorothy Hamm Middle School. Her career started with APS in 2001 as a Business teacher at the Arlington Career Center where she taught Banking, Finance, and Investments. While at the Career Center, her students operated the first ACFCU In-School Branch, giving students and faculty the opportunity to make deposits and withdrawals during the class period. In 2006, she was honored as the Virginia Credit Union League’s Education Partner of the Year. Prior to joining Dorothy Hamm Middle School in 2019, she spent six years as a teacher at Washington-Liberty High School before becoming Assistant Principal in 2017. Before her career in education, Lisa worked for First Virginia Bank (now Truist) for 13 years in several positions, including Mortgage Analyst. Since 2006, Lisa’s volunteer work with ACFCU has included the Supervisory Committee, ALCO Committee, Nominating Committee, and Board Chair from 2012-2015. Lisa says she “enjoys being part of the community in which she grew up and takes every possible opportunity to give back.” She has been an ACFCU member for over 18 years.
Angel Amin is the Senior Budget and Financial Analyst for Hostelling International, a world-wide network of not-forprofit youth hostel associations. In this role, she works directly with the CFO and the Executive Team to develop a multimillion-dollar annual budget for over 15 hostels across the US. She has more than 20 years of financial, banking, accounting, and budgeting experience. Since November 2019, she has served on the Supervisory Committee at ACFCU and encourages others to volunteer in their community. Graduating from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business, Angel Amin holds an Entrepreneurship and Marketing degree with a minor in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. In 2012, she moved to the DC Metro Area and has resided in Alexandria, VA, with her husband, for the past six years. Angel says that “growing up in an entrepreneurial household, l was inspired to develop my own volunteer skillset as I watched my father help develop local businesses and job opportunities in his local community.” Angel started her career in the corporate banking world at Wells Fargo Bank, later dedicating her efforts to non-profit organizations that help support her local community.
Luis hails from Arlington’s Department of Environmental Services where he serves as Chief of the Development Services Bureau. He has been an employee with Arlington County for more than 49 years and has been a member of the Credit Union for nearly 46 years. Since 1994, Luis’ volunteer work with ACFCU has included serving two years on the Supervisory Committee and 26 years on the board of directors, including three terms as role of Board Chair. He is passionate about ACFCU’s commitment to community impact products and programs. Luis says, “It is an honor and a privilege to continue serving our Credit Union and its members all these years. As a director, I work hard to contribute my experience and energy to ensure our Credit Union continues to be one of the best financial institutions in the country that also cares about the underserved population in our community.”
Additional nominations may be made by petition, which much contain the signatures of one percent of the ACFCU membership as of October 31, 2022. Petitions and complete application packets must be submitted to the Nominating committee by March 18, 2023.
