We invite our members to attend our Annual Meeting, held on April 30 at 5pm, to hear how their credit union supported members and the community over the past year. We also share Arlington Community FCU’s yearly financial performance and answer questions from the membership.
Our volunteer Direktorium are voted on by the membership. The board members are elected for three-year terms, with nominations for new or incumbent candidates announced in January.
Board of Directors Nominations
The Nomination Committee is pleased to present the following nominees for two available three-year volunteer positions on the ACFCU Board of Directors, beginning April 2026.
Luis Araya
Luis hails from Arlington’s Department of Environmental Services where he serves as Chief of the Development Services Bureau. He has been an employee with Arlington County for more than 52 years and has been a member of the Credit Union for nearly 48 years. Since 1994, Luis’ volunteer work with ACFCU has included serving two years on the Supervisory Committee before becoming a director, and he has also served as Chairman of the Board three different times. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Arlington Historical Society. Luis is one of ACFCU’s foremost supporters and volunteers who continues to make valuable contributions based on his experience, knowledge, and work with the community. He is a passionate advocate who believes the Credit Union has moral and social responsibility to the “underserved” in our community.
Lisa Moore
A native Arlingtonian and Army Reserve veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Lisa is entering her twenty-fifth year with Arlington Public Schools (APS). Currently, she is the Assistant Principal of Dorothy Hamm Middle School. Her career started with APS in 2001 as a Business teacher at the Arlington Career Center where she taught Banking, Finance, and Investments. While at the Career Center, her students operated the first ACFCU In-School Branch, giving students and faculty the opportunity to make deposits and withdrawals during the class period. In 2006, she was honored as the Virginia Credit Union League’s Education Partner of the Year. Prior to joining Dorothy Hamm Middle School in 2019, she spent six years as a teacher at Washington-Liberty High School before becoming Assistant Principal in 2017. Before her career in education, Lisa worked for First Virginia Bank (now Truist) for 13 years in several positions, including Mortgage Analyst. Since 2006, Lisa’s volunteer work with ACFCU has included the Supervisory Committee, ALCO Committee, Nominating Committee, and Board Chair from 2012-2015. Lisa says she “enjoys being part of the community in which she grew up and takes every possible opportunity to give back.” She has been an ACFCU member for over 21 years.
