Youth Savings Accounts
Good savings habits are learned at an early age. Our Kirby Kangaroo Youth Savings Program introduces your children to responsible financial management. Kirby members receive special promotional items every time they deposit $25 or more into their ACFCU Savings or Share Builder accounts, as well as these other great features too:
- No monthly maintenance fees
- No minimum balance requirement to open
- Dividends paid on all balances
- Direct deposit available
- Mom and Dad can set up transfers from their accounts for allowance or special occasions.
The Kirby Kangaroo section of our website has fun games, stories and jokes, as well as other age appropriate financial information and education for middle and high school aged children.
In-School Branches
ACFCU’s In-School Branch Program provides area students with real world, financial literacy education and the opportunity to explore future employment options. ACFCU currently has In-School branches in 3 high schools and 2 elementary schools. Volunteer employees teach participating students how to perform Credit Union duties, including accepting membership applications, processing deposits and handling withdrawals. The Credit Union’s involvement in In-School branches has garnered accolades from the Virginia Department of Education, the Virginia Credit Union League and the National Youth Involvement Board.
